Yarn Wrapped Rope Candy Canes

“Brown paper packages tied up with string…these are a few of my favorite things.” Does anyone else agree that a package wrapped up with strings is one of their favorite things? And that The Sound of Music is one of their favorite things? :) For the next few weeks, I’m going to talk about wrapping up those gifts with all the cute gift toppers! There are always lots of gifts to wrap at this time of year, and handmade little toppers make your gifts all that more cute and personal. The fun thing about Christmas time is that gift toppers and double as ornaments, so it’s like giving two gifts in one!

These adorable yarn wrapped rope candy canes are really a breeze once you get the hang of them! They use the same technique as my Fiber Rainbows tutorial, but in a smaller size. You can use whatever yarn you have on hand, which also makes these a great stash buster. My video tutorial below will show you exactly how to make these little treats!

Materials

  • Yarn I like the average sized yarn for this. Chunky yarn makes the candy cane a little too bulky.

  • Macrame rope or other cotton rope. You can always double up your rope to make it the width you would like. You can find this at any craft store, or on Amazon like the kind HERE or HERE.

  • Floral wire or other wire you have on hand. You can also find this at any craft store or in a three pack from Amazon as well.

  • Scotch Tape

  • Plastic yarn needle with large eye. This set from Amazon is my very favorite. I use them all the time!

  • Scissors
