Halloween Craft Camp: Spider Web Round Weavings
Round Weavings are such a fun way to incorporate yarn, ribbon, string, fabric, all the beautiful bits and scraps! For this craft, we are taking the traditional weaving and turning it into festive Halloween decor! You may remember my previous tutorial for round weaving, and this Halloween version is very similar! So grab your pretty yarn pieces, and let’s get spooky!
Materials
Macrame Hoops or Embroidery Hoops. Amazon sells a few multi-packs with different sizes. I like this set of smaller macrame hoops, and this set of slightly larger. If you want to use embroidery hoops, this set comes with several different sizes. I use both types of hoops for lots of projects, so I like to buy these multi-packs to have some on hand.
Scraps of Fabric
Hot Glue
Yarn
Ribbon, trim, pom poms (even better if you make eyeball pom poms!), string, etc. for hanging.
How To:
This video will show you how to make a spiderweb dream catcher! Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
If using a macrame hoop, make sure to cover the hoop with fabric first. The yarn will stay in place much easier if it is covered. As you are wrapping the fabric around the hoop, secure in a few places with a dab of hot glue.
In this video, I didn’t double up the yarn and strings at the bottom of my hoop. You can definitely double up your strands by cutting larger pieces and attaching them at the bottom.
To attach a pom pom to one of your strands, string a large yarn darning needle onto your yarn, then go through the center of your pom pom. Secure with a knot at the bottom of the yarn.
Hang your spooky weavings all over your house! Just don’t make them so spooky that real spiders want to make them their home! :)
