Beaded Bracelet Friendship Kits
My kids have been missing their friends during this whole social distancing thing. Zoom calls and Google Hangouts is great, but it doesn’t replace getting to be with them in person. We decided to spread a little cheer to some friends by also spreading our love of crafting! My girls and I created little beaded bracelet kits and delivered them to their friends’ porches. I’ve included all the details for this easy little craft so that you can let your friends know you are thinking of them!
Supplies
Beads. I bought this bead kit from Amazon, and it actually had pretty much everything we needed! It comes with the elastic, letter beads, seed beads, and even a little pair of scissors.
For littler hands, you may want to use pony beads and larger letters. I bought these larger letters from amazon to use with larger beads. I loved the variety in this pack!
If you buy beads that don’t come in a kit, make sure you have elastic that can fit through your beads! It’s always a bummer to buy elastic only to find that it doesn’t fit through!
You will also need clear cellophane bags. I used the 4x6 size so that my printable insert would fit. These bags are my favorite because they seal up.
Make a few copies of my printable insert which you can write you own names on. Since we are using a 4x6 bag, you will want to make sure to trim off a half inch from either side of the paper. I have grid marks where the paper needs to be cut. You can find the free printable here.
How To:
Fill out cards with your friend’s name as well as your own. Insert into the clear bag. (The free printable can be found HERE.)
Pick out letter beads to spell out a special word. Some words we used include “BFF",” “Smile,” “Happy,” “Love,” “Hope,” and friend nicknames. Add these to your bag.
Select your beads to include in your kit. We used about 60 of the 3mm seed beads (the size of the ones included in the Amazon kit) for each bag. You can give an assortment or just a few select colors. My kids enjoyed picking out specific colors that they thought their friends might like.
Cut elastic and include with each kit. We cut our elastic to 9-10”. Make sure you give more than enough elastic. You can always trim the elastic. You can’t add more elastic very easily!
